Assistance to REAL Employment Equity Implementation
(not just ticking the boxes)

Our consultancy was established 10 years ago, coinciding with the passing of the Employment Equity Act (EEA). As the labour lawyer on this task team, Marleen Potgieter wrote the original Regulations and penned the actual Summary of the Act, which all companies have against their wall – required by law.

“We were ideally placed to advise companies on what to do – we knew what the Directorate of Employment Equity were thinking and where they wanted companies to go. We cannot anticipate all the different scenarios that face companies. Our expertise lies in our facilitation of the discussion in companies – thereby allowing companies to design their own solutions. Our experience over the past 10 years across industries, genres and organisations in many different spheres allows us to help point companies in the right direction and design the Plan that is right for
them.“

The EE Forum
The EE Forum, which is a requirement of the EEA, put together from various levels and departments in a company is ideally placed to act as a Think Tank, to arrive at the best solution for their particular organisation. “Because the Forum is made up of a diverse group, representing many different viewpoints, they are often very creative and are able to provide perspectives from a wide range of employees in the workforce. We facilitate this discussion and guide you on best practice to planning and implementation.

A Success Story
One of the Managing Directors of a company we have worked with for more than 10 years, enjoyed the interaction with staff so much, insisted that the company continued their monthly meetings to discuss general employee issues while still keeping EE on the Agenda. Their internal communication has improved vastly, issues have been reduced and are resolved quickly and their relationship with the Union and the shop-stewards has improved vastly. They have found that employees speak to them directly, rather than declare disputes.
